James R. Haney, a native of Masontown, W.Va., graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He completed management training at the University of Michigan.
He has been employed by Allegheny Power for 27 years and has served as engineer, distribution; engineer, planning; supervisor, substations; division manager, Elkins Division; manager, construction; director, transmission projects, and director, operations services. He was elected vice president in September 1998. He is also a registered professional engineer in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
In his present position, he is responsible for overseeing the engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of Allegheny Power's transmission facilities and of related support services and facilities.
Mr. Haney currently serves on the Industrial Advisory Committee of the West Virginia University Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (CSEE); T&D Operations Advisory Group of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI); Executive Board of East Coast Area Reliability (ECAR); board of directors for the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation; and board of directors for the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
Haney and his wife, Debbie have three children: Matthew, Krista and Nathan. Their home is in Greensburg, Pa.
