NASA Independent Verification & Validation

Program Overview
The Scientific Research Group is supporting Northrop Grumman Corporation with its various endeavors within the NASA Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) facility, located in Fairmont, WV.

The role of IV&V is to provide unbiased checking of critical systems for NASA missions. These missions are both manned, such as the Constellation Orion system, as well as unmanned, such as the Mar Science Lander and GLORY missions.

IV&V critically examines mission requirements, design documents, and software looking for errors, shortfalls, and ambiguities. Discovered artifacts are given to design and implementation teams for consideration.

SRG team members provide in-depth analysis of both requirements and generated code.

SRG staff has been specifically recognized by NASA and the missions it supports as providing critical input for identifying system deficiencies that were corrected before flight.
